It is Streak that makes people visit or use Duolingo every day. To take it to the next level, Duolingo introduced Friend Streak in 2024.

Using these features, Duolingo users can share streaks with you to five people on Duolingo.

Notably, you and your friends will have a separate streak that will only start after accepting the invitation.

Once you and your friends agree to share a Streak on Duolingo, both must complete a lesson every day to maintain the streak.

What Is Duolingo Friend Streak?

Duolingo’s Friend Streak feature is similar to Snapchat where players make and maintain their streak by sending snaps daily.

Now, with this new feature, Duolingo users can share a streak with up to five friends.

To get started on your Friend Streak on Duolingo, you need to accept the invite.

Once you enlist a friend to share your Streak on Duolingo, both need to perform a task daily to maintain it.

The best thing about this feature is it encourages users to complete at least one lesson a day to prevent their streaks from breaking.

If you use the Duolingo app to learn a new language daily then maintaining the streak is very easy for you.

According to reports, more than 8 Million Duolingo users have a Streak of 365 days or more.

To get the Friend Streak started on Duolingo, you need to turn on the Friend Streak feature and invite your friend.

To establish the streak, your friend needs to accept the request and both of you have to complete one lesson a day.

If you don’t know how to enable the Friend Streak feature, follow the steps written below:

In a new window, tap on the Gear Icon at the top right corner to open the Settings.
Under settings, select Preferences.

Now, look for the Friend Streak option and tap on the toggle button next to it.

Note: If you don’t find the Friend Streak feature on the Duolingo app then make sure to update the app to the latest version.

If you don’t want to use this feature anymore, you can disable Friend Streak on Duolingo by clicking on the link.

After enabling the Duolingo Friend Streak feature, you can establish and check your streak status.

To do so, use the following steps:

First, open the Duolingo app.
Go to Home Screen.
Now, look for the Fire Icon.
Tap on this icon and you will see the list of friends with whom you have established the streak and see the streak status.

If you have not invited any friends to share a streak then you can do it on the same page.

After sending the invite, your friend needs to accept it to establish the streak.

As I mentioned above, to maintain the Friend Streak, each of you needs to perform one task daily.

If any of you miss the daily task, the streak will break and you need to start from zero.

Fortunately, Duolingo allows users to send reminders to their friends to keep their streak maintained.

Open the Duolingo app.
Go to Home Screen.
Tap on the Fire Icon.
Now, go to the Friends tab.
Here look for the friend to who you want to send a reminder and tap on its name.
