With a slow internet connection, you might be able to complete your lesson but the Duolingo app might not count your Streak for that reason.
If you want to get rid of this problem, completing Duolingo lessons is highly recommended when your internet is good or stable.

To check your internet connectivity, you can use tools like Speedtest.net.
When you get there and click on the Go button, your Internet speed will be shown.
Complete Two Lessons A Day
If you complete a lesson on Duolingo to maintain your Streak and close the app, chances are high that your Streak might be gone.
If you don’t want to lose your Streak due to a bug, I recommend you complete two lessons a day instead of one.
When I had the same issue, I realized that whenever I complete one lesson a day, the Duolingo app does not count my Streak.
