Disable The Duolingo Startup Sound
Here are some easy ways to turn off the start-up sound on Android and iOS:
For Android:
- First, launch the Duolingo app.
- Tap on your Profile icon.
- When you do so, a new window will appear.
- There, tap on the Settings icon as shown in the above image.
- After that, go to the Preferences.
- When you go there, you will see a list of options.
- Now, disable the Sound Effects toggle.
- Once disabled, tap on Done.
- That’s it.
For Browser:
- First, visit Duolingo’s official website.
- After visiting the site, click on the More option from the left side panel.
- When you do so, a couple of options will appear.
- Now, click on the Settings option.
- In a new window, click on the Sound Effects Toggle.
- When you do so, it will turn Grey as shown in the above image.

For iOS:
- Open the Duolingo app on your device.
- Now, go to your Profile.
- There, tap on the Settings icon.

Mute Your Device
- One can also mute the device to disable the startup sound.
- Do this before opening the Duolingo app.
- Launch Duolingo on your device.
- Unmute the feature.
The start-up sound plays only when the app is launched. Do avoid closing your Duolingo app. If it is not closed the sound will not play.
